I don't know, truthfully. I don't think there is anything we can do, honestly. We could increase the overall posting requirement, but beyond that, we could get too strict and eliminate 50% of the Atlasian population.

I propose an amendment, that probably won't be accepted as friendly, so I'll just go ahead and say I want a vote on it:

I would appreciate an answer to my previous question: People who sign up, don't give a damn, get a PM to vote for so and so and make so and so win? [aka: 'people who just like the elections'] What are arguments in favour of that? (besides the fact that certain people need them to be elected, of course)

Is anybody open to compromise on this (since I am), or is everybody just happy on shooting this down in a nice manner?

The argument in favor is, it creates more competitive elections.  More voters = more competitive = more fun watching the returns come in.

I won't compromise on section B.  I might be okay with increasing the post requirement in the forum overall, but no to any requirement of where those posts have to be.

I don't want to make enemies with you, Hashemite...we strongly disagree on this.  Hopefully there will be points we agree on down the road.

Yeah, I'm not budging on the 'post in Atlasia' requirement either. I'm sure you and I agree on plenty, Hash, but this is just one situation where I can't go along with it.

The argument in favor is, it creates more competitive elections.  More voters = more competitive = more fun watching the returns come in.

But is having a bunch of zombie voters who, granted, do make elections unpredictable, actually beneficial to the quality of this game?

Anyways, I know this won't pass because the JCP is universally opposed (understandably, of course), so:

I offer to strike this down to section a) and section b), which would consist of returning to a 25 post requirements in 8 weeks - similar to Marikoi's proposition.

I'll do without the love statements too, thanks. Wink

Well, I opposed those requirements to post in Atlasia.
Not because that would hurt me and the JCP, I even voted in the Convention to abolish my safe seat.
Those requirements would have been a pain for the SoFA and reading the same opinion ten times in the same thread because people need to post here is not very interesting.

I agree with the new law.

*support*.

A change to 15 posts *over a shorter period* might be even better. Four weeks, say.

The problem with the 25 posts was that there were, at the time, some people (or maybe it was just one - I certainly can think only of one, OWL) who were regular (though not daily) readers of parts of the forum (in his case, mostly international elections), regular voters in Atlasia, but very infrequent posters, and he had his vote struck due to having slightly fewer than 25 posts in 8 weeks several times. He's stopped posting altogether quite a while ago, though.
While tomatosouping trolls have no more problem posting 25 instead of 15 times in a day in order to qualify as a voter for the next two elections.
