In what future year can you see the GOP presidential ticket get more than 10%+ of the black vote?

Donald Trump got 8% of the black vote in 2016
George W. Bush got 11% of the black vote in 2004, and 9% in 2000
Ronald Reagan got 14% of the black vote in 1980

The Republican Party has alienated black voters for at least a decade, despite making gains with black legislators, etc. Since Barack Obama transformed the Democratic Party electorally and demographically, the GOP has been seen as anti-black.

2020 easily, I will be seriously surprised is Trump gets less than 10% of the AA vote. If not, probably 32 or 36

You set yourself up with really bizarre expectations.

You seem convinced that Trump is going to get over 10% of the Black vote. Blacks are the most inelastic voters in the country and Trump has done nothing to appeal to them.

Can you cite any evidence that Trump is seriously pursuing this?

Voted 2028. 10% isn't that much higher than 8%.

The fact that mitch McConnell is actually bringoing this up for a vote. If he gets a solid reform bill I could see young to middle aged aa males maybe going 25 percent for him.

No, you didn't. Trump is not getting 15% much less 32-36% of the Black vote.

You're either a troll, delusional or both.

Pretty sure he meant the year 2032 or 2036 and not actually suggesting a percentage of the black vote Trump could win.

Nah, read his post again.

He's saying he will be surprised if Trump doesn't get at least 10% of the Black vote. He estimates that Trump will get 32-36% .

Seems pretty clear that he is saying that if Trump doesn't get at least 10% of the black vote in 2020, then a Republican won't be able to do it until 2032 or 2036. If he actually thought that Trump could win a percentage of 32-36% he would of put percentage signs in front of the 32 and 36.

No, I said 2032 or 2036 if not 2020. I personally think Trump will get around 12% but I could see as high as 16%

Well, Trump is definitely not getting 12%-16% of the Black vote.

Trump is NOT getting more than 10% of the Black vote. Most likely, he will end up getting 7-9%.

Never, the Fall of Wall Street has made the black popular more dependent on entitlements than before, and the Social Security, unless its reform, will be the heaviest entitlement program that blacks will rely on. Democrats support Social Security, while GOP supports giving tax cuts for the rich.

Just a reminder, GWB won 11% of black voters in 2004. Bob Dole, GHWB, and Reagan all won 10+% iirc.

Not 2020, but the next time a Republican beats a Democrat after that (so probably 2028).
