Let's say that Teddy Roosevelt decides not to run in 1912 against the incumbent Taft, instead LaFollette gains strength and becomes the major opposition against Taft for the nomination. Taft is able to win the nomination easier and LaFollette cries fowl and launches his own campaign for the presidency on the Progressive Party ticket. Wilson still wins the Democratic nomination. So how would the election look like, play out, discuss, with maps if you wish.
