Aren't the congressmen supposed to have some minimum requirements in order to get elected?
Like not being deranged for example?

She should be jailed for attempted sedition.

You know, I was going to say -- "Lief, come on now.  You KNOW she was speaking figuratively.  Relax."

But then I realized, if one of our nutters had said anything remotely similar, Bachman herself would be the one calling for a hearing on "Un-American activities".

Wasn't long after 9-11 that Reverend Pat Robert$on suggested that someone should set off a nuclear bomb at the state department -- ostensibly to get rid of Colin Powell and the moderates over there.  I still wonder why his sorry ass wasn't hauled to Gitmo for a little question and answer session...

Who elected this headjob?  It's only an R+5 district IIRC.  Was the Dem nominee Tinkelberg(sp?) really that bad?

The parties are very polarized in Minnesota. There's not a lot of middle ground. Explains how people as opposite in views as Bachmann and  Paul Wellstone are from the same state.

She just isn't very bright. She wants to be a Barney Frank (you know a person with an advanced "facileness" of expression) , but is trapped in her own body.

Trust me... I lived in the district for her first run and reelection run... both against Patty Wetterling.  Despite Wetterling's known name in the district, the uber conservative exurbs strongly rejected her for Bachmann, who came from the exurbs.

Believe it or not, the rural areas were friendlier to the DFLers than the suburban areas.  (Not uncommon in Minnesota)

Bachmann actually isn't from the exurbs, she's from Dem-leaning Stillwater. Her home is interestingly the part of the district she performs worst in except for the liberal parts of St. Cloud.

I consider the district divided into two parts:

The suburbs

And areas associated with St. Cloud.

Stillwater is definitely a suburb of St. Paul.  Also remember that she ran for state senate and won in that district.

That clip made me appreciate Geithner a little more. You could tell he had to hold himself back from saying "bitch, wtf are you talking about?".
