There has been much talk about Mitt Romney being, at this point in time, the front runner for the GOP Presidential nomination for 2012.

Since the recemt Rush Limbaugh speech, there has been talk that he should be the nominee in 2012.

Would you prefer Romney, Limbaugh, or someone else to be the GOP Presidential nominee for 2012?

Please vote and discuss, if you like.

It would be interesting to know how many Dems vote for Limbaugh....

Come on, is there any GOPer who can seriously think about Limbaugh as nominee ?

Limbaugh would lose in a 500+ EV landslide to Obama. The oxy incident (he bullied a domestic servant into buying oxycontin) for him discredits him as not only a law-breaker as well as a bully. That puts him in the same category as Leona Helmsley: a law-breaking bully. Anything that he has ever said on his radio shows could be used against him in negative ads, and there's some very ugly stuff. He has no record of elective office.

No way does he run for the Presidency. He makes too much money from his radio program.

No, there are none who can seriously believe he would be a viable nominee.

What's wrong with Limbaugh? He can out-debate Obama's teleprompter.

Depends:

Who do I think would be trounced in a landslide similar to Reagan/Mondale in 84: Limbaugh

Who would I be least worried about should they win: Romney of the two.  Are there any moderates left in the GOP?  Snowe perhaps?

Limbaugh is a brilliant man.  He is better aquainted with foreigh and economic policy than almost any democrat.  And better than some Republicans, sad to say.  But Romney has such strong credentials when it comes to financial issues, I can't see supporting Rush over him.  Plus, Rush had a minor little drug problem many years ago and the liberal media will dig that up again.  Romney is the epitomy of squeaky clean.

No.  Obama has a fairly defined set of views, and hasn't completely changed on every issue to get elected.

I should have voted Other (Huckleberry), but I accidentally chose Romney.

BTW, Snowe and Collins are not moderates, they are about as liberal as Republicans can get, and in some respects are RINO's.

Snowe and Collins are certainly moderates.

The political spectrum within the Republican Party is not a good way of measuring that.

That's true.  Looking at the national spectrum, they are moderately-liberal, but they are still RINO's somewhat.  Now, I'm not saying they are bad Senators and I'm not docking them for being RINO's.  I love the way they take care of their constituency and do not toe their party's line.  I would call them sensible politicians for the state of Maine.  I admire politicians who don't vote with their party 100% of the time.  That's why I like Blue Dogs, as well as left-leaning Republicans, politicans who are in the middle-half of the national spectrum.

They are certainly moderates...moderate liberals, that is.

Seriously though, just saying "moderate" by itself makes no sense. There are "moderate liberals", "moderate conservatives" and so on, and none of these groups are the same (except for the inclusion of the word "moderate", whatever that means). Nor are any of these groups the same as centrism (which is probably what you are talking about).

As a Democrat, I prefer Limbaugh.  That guy is so brainless, I am certain he would lose.  But as an American, I would have to say Romney.  I think he's a sincere and good man, even though I disagree with him on almost everything.  Limbaugh is just a racist windbag.

Limbaugh. His nomination would effectively destroy the Republican forever. So yeah, Limbaugh.
