Suggested by Brandon in the other thread.  I'd guess Taylor through Buchanan, or Harding through Hoover.  Not a lot of bad stretches in our history, actually.

Probably  Jackson-Buchanan, though Andrew Johnson - William Harrison was pretty bad too.

That may be why history was so kind to Lincoln - he was surrounded by idiots...

1981-2009 was a terrible period. Other terrible periods were much of the mid and late 1800s (with the exception of Lincoln and perhaps a couple of others), and some of early 1900s, certainly the 1920s.
