Gregg has accepted the post, per CNN.

I agree that Sununu would be the most ethical replacement.  Hell no on it actually happening though.

How is the guy the people of NH just kicked out of office the most ethical replacement?

Not a good idea if Gregg is replaced by a Republican.  Gregg votes like a Democrat so I would prefer that he stayed in the Senate, but I would like someone liberal in the Cabinet.

His likely replacement is apparently a placeholder that's more liberal than him. People exaggerate Gregg's liberal tendencies anyway.

I definitely see Sununu running in 2010 though.

That's why I said I would like someone liberal in the Cabinet (not Gregg).

CNN btw confirms that Bonnie Newman will be his replacement.

Why did Obama just appoint a Republican extremist (on the issues relevant to Commerce) to his cabinet?

Democrats don't vote to repeal the minimum wage.

No, but on most issues he votes like a Democrat.  Which is why I would prefer him in the Senate rather than in the Cabinet, especially since he will be replaced by another Republican.

What are "most issues"? Considering that 86% of Americans supported raising the minimum wage a couple of years ago, eliminating the minimum wage is a particularly extreme view.

So you want him to become Secretary of Commerce?  Because that's what I'm arguing against, something you obviously cannot understand.

Of course I don't. I want his butt kicked in the 2010 election.

Well he will be around for 4 more years and not only that, he also got to choose his replacement (she's supposedly a RINO, but she was a Reagan/Bush staffer).

Let me guess, a RINO who has lots of extreme right views like wanting to repeal the minimum wage? RINO doesn't mean that you occasionally disagree with Rush Limbaugh.

Why are you so aggressive?  I don't feel very comfortable either with a Reagan/Bush staffer.
You seem to have a hard time understanding my messages.

How in the hell is Sununu the "most ethical replacement"? New Hampshirites (or whatever you call them) just overwhelmingly made it clear that they don't want the guy representing them. To appoint him to Gregg's seat would be an insult to the democratic process.

Overwhelmingly? He lost by seven points. That's not a lot considering he was supposed to be demolished.

I told this forum weeks ago that Richardson should be replaced by a Republican as the nominee for Secretary of Commerce.

I was weeks ahead on this one.

Only the Republican I named was Mitt Romney.

Wait, Blagojevich makes a Senate deal and gets impeached, but Lynch and Gregg make a deal and nothing happens? Tongue

He pulled his name out of the nomination because he disagrees with the stimulus. Mmhmm.

Probably also has something to do with the Census Bureau flap, I suspect. (though it may not be worded as such)

Now - the question is will he run again?
