My guess is that McCain still picks Palin, while Schweitzer selects either Biden or Tim Kaine.

I'm sorry but I have a hard time believing Schweitzer would have done better than Obama.

I don't think he would have won Indiana or North Carolina, but may have been slightly better in Montana, the Dakotas and maybe Missouri.

The little known Schweitzer does not defeat McCain.

This map is being generous to Schweitzer.

Schweitzer would be revealed in the campaign to fall very, very short of being Presidential material.

McCain                      276
Schweitzer                262

Are you kidding me Winfield? I'm not saying that Governor Schweitzer would have performed better than Barack Obama against Senator McCain if he was the 2008 Democratic nominee, but I have a hard time believing that he would lose to McCain, especially since the crisis on Wall Street all but assured Democratic victory in 2008.

I agree, any credible Democratic Presidential nominee would have defeated McCain, especially given the Wall Street meltdown during the campain.

However, Schweitzer hardly rises to the level of a credible Presidential nominee.  Presidentially speaking, Schweitzer is a total lightweight.

I like Governor Schweitzer.  Here's my best guess:

Electoral Vote

Schweitzer 365
McCain       173
