Why do you say that?  Huckabee has proved himself to be pretty moderate for a Baptist preacher.  I'm not sure if I would vote for him yet, but my initial impression of him based off his bio has proven wrong.

Far too socially conservative and populist for me. Basically I'd never consider voting for a populist republican.

Crist and Romney are good candidates, and in either order, could make a good ticket together.  Either these two together in any order, or either candidate with Lindsey Graham at the bottom of the ticket, and we're looking at a competitive '12 race.

I see Sanford as a lackluster candidate.

The guy who you used to call "Reagan-esq?"

Romney and Crist. Hucky's base is limited to Evans, Sarah to Conservatives, Romney can compete for all of them and win some moderates to boot. Strength in the nations two swing areas the Midwest and West, Huge fundraising base. He has some problems. He's got to relate better to the average voter, he's got to combat the bigotry head on, and he needs to use a more flexible campaign strategy.

In terms of electability, I think it has to be Charlie Crist by far.

It's going to be someone out of left field, like Obama was.

In the end, almost anyone is electable in the right situation.

Provided that Obama's first term isn't a complete and utter disaster (quite doable in comparison to the previous two presidential terms) than the most electable Republican would likely be moderate, and by that I don't mean a pseudo-moderate like John McCain or (lawl) Mike Huckabee. It wouldn't necessarily need to be Lincoln Chafee...but you get the idea.

None of these, it needs to be someone who's vaguely in the Rockefeller mould of Republicans, and it doesn't look as if anyone's a credible possibility if you take that as a basic assumption. Romney, if I'm pushed, but I can't imagine what an Obama-Romney voter would look like, his crossover appeal's limited.

Maybe he'll "bring the Log Cabin Republicans home."

Wow, if this batch of jokes is the best the GOP can come up with...

Strange that I, myself, recall having said something very similar to that about the Democrats back in 2006.

Anyway, of that list, I sadly must admit that its probably Romney.

I'm not completely convinced that we are going to need the "most electable" candidate in order to win though.

Really? I know he isn't on the list, but more than Pawlenty?
