Sure, though an emo song would be ideal.

It would make more sense than the current one, so yes.

The current one has more significance to American history.

Awesome song.  Inappropriate anthem.  There is nothing more badass than the third stanza:

Which reminds me.  Do you guys think the fifth stanza reads better as:

I was thinking BRTD was referring to religious reasons.

If & only if it is sung as it is meant to be sung, rather than sung with the change that those mormons made, which gutted the song.

In the line "As he died to make men holy let us die to make men free," they changed the second "die" to "live." It kind of detracts from the patriotism & the power of the song if they aren't willing to die for the cause of spreading liberty.

They also eliminated the last verse & chorus, though that isn't that big of a deal. I just liked how the last verse sounds.

I didn't know that it was originally die.  I think "die" is better, but I love when the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings it.

I've looked on Youtube & "live" is much more common, which annoys me since I agree that "die" is better.

The general omission of the sixth verse also annoys me, but that would be nothing new with anthems. La Marseillaise is seven verses, yet people only sing the first verse, & sometimes the fifth & sixth ones too.

Here's a good poll: Which is more emo: The Star Spangled Banner or Battle Hymn of the Republic?

This reminds me: I wish an emo band would cover "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and then that could be it!
