In the wake of 9/11, President Gore is confronted with the crisis of a century. While he leads the country, He does not have a strong response like Bush. Gore's public approval goes up 48-41 to 55-43. he is widely criticized by Conservative leaders for a weak response. he dumps Lieberman for suggesting he should bolster his "War President" image.

He invades Afganistan, but is mismanaging the situation.

His Approval going into the election is 51-47

Rudy Giuliani, is enhanced due to is remarkable leadership during the crisis, and becomes the Republican Nominee. he selects George Allen as his running mate.

But Gore is seen as a success domestically.

I Say, 300-238, Giuliani win.

Totally implausible. Gore's approval would've shot up just as much.

Agreed, Gore would have had to go on TV and said something to the effect of "it's our fault for messing up their countries"... and even then, he'd still hit 65%.

No matter who was President of the United States at the time of the September 11 terrorist attacks, their approval ratings would have shot through the roof. If Bush's went up then so would Gore's. Thus, I can assure you that would have happened to President Gore. Anywho, Gore would probably win. But I do agree with numerous other posters that such a scenario is highly implausible.

Yes, but did you see how Clinton handled the "incident" at the world trade center back in the '90s, Gore's approval probably would not have shot up as high as Bush's, but I should have gave him as 65%.
