Bergman breaks 90% in D'Arcy-McGee! Closest "rival" is a Greenie, who has 3.96%.

LOL at what Solidaire put as its #2 myth to be dispelled about the party:

http://www.quebecsolidaire.net/10-mythes-sur-quebec-solidaire

Maybe not such a myth after all.

(Their choice of what to put at #1 is pretty hilarious too, and #7 actually would make me want to vote for the party more).

Apparently a minority isn't out of the question, according to some pundits and talking heads.

The PQ and ADQ both did a bit better than I expected. So did QS; I thought it was still unlikely that Khadir would be elected. It'll be interesting to see if QS can make a splash now that it has an MNA.

Does QS realistically have any chance of making inroads outside of Montreal? Anyone know what and where their best showing outside of it was?

I haven't checked every riding, but scanning the regions where they're not totally garbage, it appears to be 5.8% in Rouyn-Noranda-Temiscamingue, a unionized mining area in the northwest. Which is, incidentally, roughly the riding that elected Quebec's only CCF/NDP provincial member ever, a CCF'er some time in the 40's.

I think it's extremely unlikely they're going anywhere outside inner east Montreal any time soon.

Rouyn-Noranda-Temiscamingue is no longer an unionized mining area. This is an urban area with many public servants and a farming rural area.

Well, I was curling, so I missed the election, but some obvious comments:

I'm not happy about a majority, but it's better than I thought. The ADQ and PQ did better than expected, and the QS won a seat! Cheesy

While QS are separatists, I kind of see them as Quebec's NDP... sort of... same colours anyways Cheesy So, that's pretty awesome. Going to make the map for Wikipedia now.

Good night; came this close to a minority, ADQ wiped out, QS in!

Had to go to a party, missed the fun. But the level of polarization on the Island is hilarious. Someone make a map.

My map with it's terrible layout (but Im too lazy to make a good one, perhaps next representation) is up on Wikipedia.

Oh, and Montreal has always been like that Tongue

Some political notes about Mericer...

After comparing it with the federal ridings, I can tell you it includes the most hard core NDP areas of Outremont (and in all of Quebec), plus what is probably the best NDP areas in Laurier-Sainte-Marie. I'm guessing we won some polls up there. We finished second in 2006 there.

I'd make one now... were it not for the fact that I've got to look through a stack of old journals very soon (chances of finding anything on the subject I'm writing about; c. 0.4%). I might do when I get back, though I don't know when that is yet.

Can't read this thread, got to post about la Nouvelle Orléans.

The ADQ collapsed, but not as far as expected. The PQ and PLQ both made gains at the ADQ's expense, the PQ somewhat more than expected. The PLQ narrowly won a majority government. QS broke into Parliament by scalping Mercier from the PQ.

PLQ: 66 (+18) [center-right to center-left federalists]
PQ: 51 (+15) [sovereigntists ranging from right to left]
ADQ: 7 (-34) [right-wing, wishy-washy on independence]
QS: 1 (+1) [hard left sovereigntists]
