Obama wins WI, McCain wins OH and WV, just as expected.

I agree. Now my question is , Is Virginia and North Carolina for the first time in a century gonna be more democratic than Ohio?

Both states were more Democratic than Ohio as recently as 1992.

Technically correct although Bush 1 Did carry both while losing Ohio in 1992.

Virginia might.. North Carolina won't go for Obama anyway.  But Virginia might.  I'm predicting it won't though.

Technically correct? No. Correct, correct. If that's not good enough for you, NC was more Democratic than Ohio in 1980, 1976, 1960, 1956, 1952, 1948... and then since about 1492 or so. Virginia was more Democratic in 1960, 1952, 1944... and then since about 1492 or so. Honestly, if you're going to just make things up to fit in with your fetid talking points, at least try to make them plausible...

Okay, you can stake your hopes on these "new voters" and see if you win Ohio.

Perhaps you could explain to me the advantage, as an Internet poster with no connection to the Obama campaign, of deciding not to have hope for Obama to win Ohio. I'm "staking my hopes" on new voters PLUS Obama's ground game PLUS the change in the macro environment since 2004. If that makes me a fool, big whoop. People have said much stupider things on the Internet.

Did you actually believe Obama would carry Ohio?

Yes, the newly registered voters will allow him to carry the state.

You mean those 200,000 registrations that don't match SSN's?

It's not SSNs, it's any character that appears in the name or address, including that of "Joe the Plumber" whose name is misspelled in some state records.

It could be one or both or a total address mismatch. That is why they should be examined, but well, the SOS just lacks the motivation for some unknown reason. I suspect some of those voters are fraudulent. And then we have those 12 Rhodes scholars from Oxford who moved to Columbus for six weeks into one apartment (does that pack job violate some municipal ordiance?). But hey, maybe that is legal. Maybe they are all dropping out. Tongue

1944.

I think you'll find that that was later than a century ago.

One thing I do remember about Ohio is that Obama under-performed his poll numbers on Super Tuesday.

Surprisingly, this wasn't really the case.

Clinton's final margin in Ohio was 8.65%.  The March polls were:

SurveyUSA: Clinton +10
ARG: Clinton +14, Clinton +7
PPP: Clinton+9
Suffolk: Clinton+12
Rasmussen: Clinton+6
Quinnipac: Clinton+4
Zogby: Tie and Obama+2

The average of the non-Zogby polls was Clinton +8.86%.  That of the non-Zogby, non-ARG polls was Clinton +8.2%.

So while you can safely say that Obama underperformed his Zogby numbers, the rest of the polls were pretty accurate.

West Virginia and Ohio are known for their racism. Just ask Mike Naso's grandpop!

By the way, I still think Obama will probably take Ohio, in the end, but whatever.

Please understand that arguing that some people are going to vote based on racism is not the same as claiming that all people who vote that way are racist.

It's ludicrous that we have some Republicans arguing that Obama will do worse in Rust Belt states than a generic democrat because of his race while others are clutching their pearls and shrieking at the very suggestion that any white voter takes race into account.

Don't you think these "racists" would be voting Republican anyway?

Some, including the people who are showing up on Youtube outside of Palin rallies, but there are plenty of people in the middle who would have voted for a white Democrat this year but probably won't vote for Obama. Some of them voted for Gore and surely a few for Kerry, as well.

FYI: Mason-Dixon will also have a South Dakota poll out by Wednesday.

To add: R2000/DailyKos will also poll South Dakota this week.

I wonder if anyone does Arkansas ?
