In 1972, President Richard Nixon is stricken with a severe case of phlebitis and is forced to withdraw as a candidate for re-election.

Vice President Spiro Agnew, by this time somewhat of a folk hero among conservatives, wins the Republican Presidential nomination.  He picks conservative activist House member John Ashbrook for Vice President.

Former Vice President Hubert Humphrey sees an opening, and rides his experience and his prepared to lead campaign to the Democratic Presidential nomination.  Humphrey picks experienced and well liked Senator Henry Jackson of Washington for Vice President.

How does this election turn out?

Please discuss, using maps if you choose.
