To be eligible, the candidate must have gotten at least 2% of the national popular vote in any election.

I'll take the top 2 finishers (2nd would be running mate)in the Democrat poll, the Republican one, left Independent, Right independent, and match them up in a 20th Century all-time poll.

I assume you are including third parties, minor parties and splinter parties as independents? In other words, ANY candidate NOT on the Democratic or Republican Party ticket?

Yes, any non Democrat or GOP candidate. Teddy Roosevelt IS elegible, however. But, if he comes in 1st or 2nd in the GOP Poll, he will go into the general election on the GOP ticket.

I think TR would do it the other way around.  Especially if he was in second.

So, basically, at this point, Theodore Roosevelt would be the right-leaning independent and Eugene Debs would be the left-leaning one. George Wallace would be TR's VP and Debs' VP would be either LaFollete or Thomas.

Why are red and blue avatars allowed to vote in this poll? It would seem only fair to me that this one be open only to green or orange avatars.

I have been letting people with Green or Orange avatars vote in the major party polls. This isn't that tight go-by-the-strict-rules anyway.

And yet you do NOT let red avatars vote in the Republican poll and vice versa. Hmmm... sounds like a Florida in the making.

The only thing I have done is not let Red avatars vote in the GOP polls and not let Blue ones vote in the Democrat. There are many Independents who lean GOP or Demo. but are further to the left/right of that party, and I believe they should be able to vote.

I figure TR as a right-leaning independent, because A) he was a Republican when he was President, and B) Would he be a left-leaning Independent? That's where the Socialists are winning.

Polls close at midnight tonight!

Right now LaFollete and Roosevelt would win, with VP's to be determined.

Voting closes at midnight. Vote people vote.

Two winners will come out of this. Right now it looks like TR and LaFollette will win, with Eugene Debs running alongside LaFollette.
