McCain: 57%
Obama: 41%

SurveyUSA interviewed 900 Georgia adults 09/14/08 through 09/16/08. Interviews were conducted after federal bailout of Fannie Mae had been announced and as the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers and federal bailout of AIG were unfolding.

Of the adults, 798 were registered to vote. Of the registered voters, 684 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely voters in the 11/04/08 general election. Georgia has 15 Electoral College votes. George W. Bush carried Georgia by 17 points in 2004 and by 12 points in 2000.

I'd say that's more than "just slightly' under 60%.

Obama has a ceiling here of 43% which I think is about what Gore got.

Wouldn't be surprised if a higher % of GA would never vote for a Dem under any circumstance than places like Wyoming or Idaho.
