So some are postulating that Russia intends to take over some neighboring countries, namely Georgia and Ukraine. Some believe the appropriate response to such an action would be an outright war. Though a war between 2 nuclear powers is something that should probably be avoided if possible.

So, as an alternative plan, the U.S. and possibly NATO as well should pre-emptively invade any country we're worried about, cutting off Russia's options before they dare to take them.

That would probably cause a civil war if we tried it in Ukraine. Georgia would require the Turks being not just grudgingly accepting but actually willing.

Even Poland might not support this idiocy.

Or we could try to ask these new NATO countries and concerned countries to allow us to garrison a trip wire force in each of their countries.
