Brilliant ending. B grade delivery otherwise, but A for content.

If any of the leftists hacks who are running down McCain had actually ever served their country, they would understand why this is such a great speech.

I have served, you people mooch off of my service and the others who have served.

And you wonder why you draw so much contempt?

Ah, Ghostmonkey, we were all wondering why you were so quiet....

BTW: I have never served, although I did lose a good friend in Iraq in '04 and have one of my best friends has just enlisted in the Navy, amongst many friends in my life that have served.

McCain made a decent speech tonight, and just because there are those in the forum that disagreed is no reason to throw your service of those from a different political persuasion in such as fashion.

Yes! Earth, Wind and Fire! They should have played this right after the speech.

It was a C+ speech with a intermixes of B+ and an A- ending.

All together, not horrible, about what I expected from a McCain floor speech.

I'm thinking the ending was more of a B-B+, solely because he was a little uneven in the closing part, instead of cutting out a few of the weaker lines and making it slightly stronger.

McCain definitely did an extremely strong speech, especially impressive considering the length, after a rough first third part.

B/B+. One critical thing was missing. What do you think that was?

Content C-: Nothing we have not heard before, no attacks on Obama, and free trade isn't exactly red meat.

Delivery A: McCain fell flat on issues and why he wants to be President, but the emotional speech he gave about his POW experience, about why he loves the country, and why service is important is on par with anything Obama has given, and given Obama's vacuousness, far more emotionally appealing and convincing to me. And I don't like McCain.

Overall an A-/B+: More than the sum of its parts. Had he used the moment to return Obam's favor by praising Obama's journey and experiences and telling him that he might be a good President in 10 years but not today I think it would have boosted content and delivery.

One thing of note... before the end of the speech, McCain's finest moment was when he went off the script to react to the protesters.  John McCain s not a "floor speech" kinda guy.

And, of course, they have to show the lone protester.  Roll Eyes

I just spotted a local State Representative in the crowd. That was kind of cool.

This one?

The cool thing is, that the guy with the grey hair who was blocking her from going further was a good friend of mine, Mayor Richard Moccia of Norwalk.

Nah, they showed someone before this outburst. Some guy who was just holding a sign saying that McCain votes against veterans.
