So, outside of the hacks, we can say that this speech was good, but not great. Like the Olive Garden. Not a great place "to be seen", but the wine and the simple dishes really hit the spot.

Except when you ask the people (Italians) that matter, the Olive Garden is trash (aside from their salad).  Wink

So you're saying that Palin is trash except for her salad?  Phil... I never would've thought...

I agree. Their salad is delicious, but their pasta was mediocre the only time I went there. The same thing is true with Greek places. My family refuses to go eat at them.

Hey. Don't be elitist...and yes. Those salads are good. Olive garden is good for someone who lives in Laramie and must travel 66 miles to get to one.

I'm not an elitist; I'm just Italian.  Wink

I love how this will turn into a discussion about the Olive Garden.

Somehow I expected better

B- content/ C for delivery.

I think Rudy did the best job, although I disagree with him on almost everything he said.

Well us real Americans from Everycity, USA eat Spam and believe that cream of mushroom soup adds an element of magic to any dish.

So take your elitist "oooh.. I'm Italian... ooh.. I'm Greek" and fight over minute religious differences or something.

One of the best speeches I've seen.

Absolutely amazing.

She hit policy issues without boring everyone to death.

She made the right slams.  She is going to be a great attack dog.

Great speech.

Easily qualifies for A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Biden watch out.

This is the first time I have said this or believed this, but I have to say that McCain made the right pick.

The liberal press and the Washington elite can take a flying leap at the moon.

A new political star is on the rise in America, and her name is Sarah Palin.

You could have gotten it live on CNN's website. There may still be clips there and it may be on C-Span's website later.

Great speech. Really connected with small town folks like my family. She's down to earth and definitely doesn't come over as a career politician. If the people here don't see what's in the making they are seriously delusional.

Go to Chicago young man, for the Greek places. There is one decent Greek place in LA, down in San Pedro.

Overall B-. The introduction was too long and for a good amount of time at the beginning it just felt uneasy for some reason like she was talking to a local group, like a PTA or Veterans organisation, instead of a national convention. She did do better towards the end and I think she was able to show that she is "knowledgeable" on the issues. Still I think the delivery was awkward at times.

I'm not going to do a content grade because it's a convention speech, they're all fluff, bluster and attack.

I don't go to the Olive Garden much, only when someone I know has a gift card. The pasta wasn't impressive, though the fact that I frequently cook Italian food probably influences my opinion somewhat. I recommend the "endless soup, salad, and breadsticks" deal, if it still exists.

As for Palin's speech, A++++++++++ GREAT SELLER FAST SHIPPING WOULD BUY FROM AGAIN.

I'd definitely say her calling out Obama on his hypocrisy about touting small town USA then turning around and stabbing it in the back will really hurt nObama.

She basically said Barack Obama hates America.  He wants America to be defeated in Iraq.

She said only one man in this race ever fought for us.  She's right.  What's amazing is that when we said the same thing about our guy in 2004, the other side succeeded in convincing America he not only didn't fight for us...he lied about it and really fought against us.

She just plain lied about her record on the bridge.  She did not oppose it until it was politically unpopular.

She scored big points with me on the plane and chef.  I think that kind of cost cutting is always a welcome thing and we need a lot more of it.

It was a brilliant move to bring the kids out on stage.  Beautiful, sweet baby -- she is obviously a good mom...you can see it in her kids' eyes.  I also liked watching Mac interact with them.  He was having fun and that's always reassuring.

As a purely political attack speech, I give it an A+.  Better than any speech I have heard this campaign season in either party. And infinitely better than any attack speech from Biden or Obama.

As for being a speech with the best interests of the country at heart, what can I say?  I am an arch liberal...she is an arch conservative.  So naturally, I can't give it anything more than a D.

Bottom line?  I stand by my previous assertion -- barring a major misstep or scandal, my party has once again lost the election.

I save my A+s for people who completely through away the teleprompter and the consequent pause every seven seconds. Bill Clinton is one of the few I can think of. Huckabee sometimes. McCain used to do it at townhalls too.

As someone from a small town, originally, Palin knows us!

Can she reach into the suburbs?  I don't know.

That may be a mistake. I am not sure an attack speech, even a very good attack speech is what she wanted to give tonight.
