I have to agree, everything seem to be pointing to her, but we never know what will happen.

Palin is not in Alaska.  It;s 6:25 am there if not earlier.  They wouldn't be able to confirm that she is there at this time anyway.

The planes were real!

correction, Alaska is 3 hours behind central time, so now it is still only 5:38 am in Alaska.  Ain't NOONE confirmed Palin is in bed at 5:38am.  Forget the reports, believe in the planes.  Palin is in OH and she is the pick.

you said somewhere that someone confirmed it was indeed a woman? Where did you get that, out of interest?

There was a rumor from one of the cable news networks that a woman got off of the plane with two teenagers.

And Ohio is in eastern time, which is even better.

Mark Halperin says that that was reported on CNN.

Looking like Palin is a very strong shot (woo!), but I don't understand why Lieberman being in Ohio is being ignored (did I miss something?)

"Gov. Palin’s press secretary, Sharon Leighow, told the Wall Street Journal Friday morning that she had no indication that the governor had left the state, and said the security detail said that, to their knowledge she hadn’t left. Ms. Leighow said Gov. Palin is scheduled to talk to a graduation ceremony in Anchorage at 9:45 a.m. local time, and then to go to the Alaska state fair."

If it's Romney after all this, I'm voting Obama.

Oh, OK.  So, not Lieberman, not Palin, not Pawlenty, not Romney.

Maybe, at this rate, McCain will appoint himself Veep.

Who are the most likely shots among those not "eliminated" yet?  Portman?

Lieberman is close friends with McCain.  His presence in Dayton wouldn't be a surprise.

What would be a surprise is McCain tapping Lieberman or Ridge and risk riling up the base.

"According to a Republican strategist, Palin is the nominee, though McCain's campaign has not comfirmed this."

Don't worry, CNN and PMSNBC have confirmed that Romney's in Boston today.

Score one for wishful thinking Tongue

Great pick.  I never expected McCain to be this adventurous, but I'm glad he is.  Palin might end up getting clobbered at the VP debate, but she's sympathetic, a great surrogate and a charismatic presence -- plus, she fits in with McCain's maverick label.  It also makes Biden look like an institutional pick.  I'm favorably impressed.

Edit: I'm still not 100% that this report is right, but we'll see.

I've been flipping between FOX News and CNN for the past hour and I've seen none of Obama's acceptance speech. For the McCain campaign, that is a brillant move.

And as we all know, those that watch cable news on Friday morning are a very large and crucial demographic.

Front page of every newspaper in America has a big picture of Obama and Co. Don't get too excited guys Smiley
