Basically John Edwards without the snake oil charm and the affair.  He's a mistake.

If he says the McCain "right wing" again and McCain chooses Ridge, it blows up in their faces.

I loved Obama: "Let me introduce...the next PRESIDENT....VICE PRESIDENT of the United States...Joe Biden!"

I don't believe he even said "president," just "pre..."

I'm not really sure what the big deal is either way.

Yeah .. they are talking about it on TV right now.

The Barack America thing just makes it more about Obama's personality cult.

Once they get rid of these little mistakes (the next President, Barack America, before you put your children to bed, etc.), that's a good rally to take on the road.  Barack talks nice and positive and pulls you in and then Joe gets let out of his cage foaming at the mouth to rip apart John McCain.

Dear Barack,

Thank you! If you want me to text you my thanks, wait until 4:03 AM EST or some other random time.

Sincerely,

McCain supporter

You're quite welcome that PA's electoral votes and the ONLY long-term incumbent Democrat the NRCC had any chance at picking off (Kanjorski) are now lost causes for the GOP.

GOOD PICK!

Actually, no.  Obama is a dynamic speaker.  Did you notice how perfunctory his speech was.  I sounded like he "settled" on Biden.

Picking Biden was a perfectly fine, respectable pick. The lack of any good attacks by Republicans proves that enough by itself.

Well, I called it.

Anyway, I'm happy with the pick. A lot happier than I thought I would have been honestly.

In short.... OMG OBAMA/BIDEN '08!!!111

I back this ticket 100%.

There is a difference between "a perfectly fine, respectable pick," and the "best," or even "the better," pick.

It's not Ferraro '84, but it's not Gor '92, either.

yes he did.

this is completely awful.  im not watching on tv, but listening on radio.

i can only imagine how bad he looks with that smug toothy grin.

You realize he developed that technique on purpose because it's the only way for him to avoid stuttering, right?

I only wish he had some executive experience, but that isn't really a big deal for VP.

He sort of reminds me of myself, someone prone to overtalking and making gaffes, and I would never choose myself to be a VP, but Biden is definitely one of the best choices (and he sounds better than Obama/Sebelius).

I love the absolute ignorance on this forum sometimes. I don't know why I'd expect a reasonable response from you anyway.

I have never, ever, ever believed that Romney would deliver Michigan for McCain. Never. One of my friends told me awhile back that he was going to change his mind about Romney as the running mate and suddenly want him to get the spot so that we could take Michigan. I flipped out.

So, yeah, don't go around assuming that I thought that.

There would be a certain personal vote for Biden in PA (northeast PA in particular).  There would be a certain person vote for Romney in MI.

I highly doubt it is any more than 0.5% maximum statewide however.  Thinking any more is going to occur is bordering on the edge of ridiculousness.

I think that some of the criticism of the pick is unrealistic, but I also don't see Biden saving Kanjorski's bacon if he's going to lose his seat.

FYI, Ridge can deliver PA though. I know this because J.J. tells me so.

Well, Ridge was Governor there - Biden was born there and lived there, what, 10 years in his childhood.  That is a pretty large difference.

Ridge could swing PA (with an emphasis on the could), but I think his other attributes could hurt more in other places - and as Torie said, I just don't think he has it.

What evidence is there that he could swing PA or that people there even still care about him?
