So, apparently the Georgians want a cease-fire, but Russians say it's a scam and they're continuing the war.

Damn Russians. At one time I was pro-Russia and supported Russia, but now I'm entirely behind Georgia.

I find the situation so mind-boggling. The Russians are lying so blatantly and their objective of destroying Georgia is so obvious, and yet the "international community" has stayed basically silent.

After the war, every country neighboring Russia will have to obey Moscow or face destruction.

Not invading disputed territories containing mostly Russian citizens and destroying the capitals of those regions, killing hundreds in the process, will also help.
I think that the desire of Georgia to regain South Ossetia by force is far more obvious,

Now the war has moved onto the seas.

The Russians now have full air and sea supremacy.

Meanwhile all the airlines are getting the fuk out:

Well, smaller powers don't want to piss off Russia because they have one hell of a big army (and huge natural ressources). Major powers don't want to piss off Russia because they've got nukes. One could try to argue that Georgia has helped out the United States militarily in Iraq, so it's now the United States' turn to help out Georgia militarily in South Ossetia. But nobody wants to see this thing going nuclear.

As long as you've got nukes and a million soldiers you are free to do whatever you like... at least in your "sphere of influence". Nothing seems to have changed in that respect. Russia has proven that now. So, in the end Western politicians are limited to publicly expressing their "concern" over the situation.

Apparently Chechen militia are "destroying villages in South Ossetia", at least so says SkyNews...
EDIT:
Ok, clarification:

SkyNews breaking news:

Russia using "Chechen militia" to ethnically-cleanse Georgian villages.

Why does Georgia want to keep these areas so badly anyway? Is having your country look bigger on a map that important?

Russia's too big for us to be on its wrong side for long. Bush can do this since he'll be out soon.

Russia is a joke. They never ever had a lead in the Cold War ever. We'd own them in a month or less.

What a shame no one wants to start a nuclear war over a piece of land half the size of Rhode Island.

I think that the Russian leadership has learned from past mistakes and won't let itself be spent out of existence, unfortunately.

I'm not sure how (I've been busy with research), but this somehow ties into Kosovo -- Russia is "liberating" "oppressed" Ossetians in Georgia in the way "NATO" "liberated" "oppressed" Kosovar Muslims in Serbia. But damned if the Georgians expect the European NATO members to do a thing about it, since they didn't do a thing in the Balkans as well. The US can't, either -- not because of nuclear fears, but simply because the country is too far away from any real ally.

Look, the fact is that Russia wants control over Georgia, whenever they can get it, whether it's by proxy or not.  Naturally, they want to absorb the two regions they're getting, but this in minor in the long-haul.  Anyway, Putin's willing to wait, but Saakshvilli (sp?) made a dumb move by going into South Ossetia, which provided Putin the perfect opportunity.
