In reality, the city has improved quite a bit since the dark days of Coleman Young, though obviously it didn't have anywhere to go but up and is still pretty scary in most places. As the price of fuel increases and businesses redevelop the inner core, it should steadily become a more desirable place to live.

In his defense, what Kilpatrick did to actually end up in jail was pretty benign....it was a technicality more than anything, but it still was illegal, of course.

I have no love for the man, however. The way he's squandered taxpayer dollars in pursuit of his own vices is abhorrent.
