Really?  I'd have thought that funding the Swiftboaters to the tune of two million dollars would've turned most of you against him.

I have no real problem with Boone.  As he says, he's an awl man, and the awl bidness' interests align with the GOP.  He ain't no patsy.  Boone's smarter'n a tree fulla owls, so he knows that wind's the place to be.  He's become the nation's largest wind man, and sees the ol' awl bidness as yesterday.  Wants to make his units in a new field, so he wants you to use his wind.  He's fixin' to make a huge profit, and is libel'ta do a real boon (or Boone) to our country in the process.

His plan is unbalanced, and unrealistic in this idea of converting plants to natural gas as the silver bullet, and the wind stuff, and he has a financial conflict of interest, but hey, he's precipitating debate beyond well we all need to ride our bikes, and pay much more for oil to save the planet, and for that I salute him.

Definite freedom fighter.  I like his energy initiatives and I hope he can become the GOP's answer to George Soros in terms of the money-think tank.  Plus, he is an alma-mater and donates regularly to one of the greatest engineering universities in the United States, located in Stillwater, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State University -- The REAL "OSU" (Sorry, Ohio State and Oregon State, you are not the real OSU's).  In fact OSU's football stadium is named Boone Pickens Stadium.

FF because of his promotion of wind farms. Michigan has the second highest potential for wind harvestment in the country.

Thank you.  And yes, I am still bitter.  Over Kerry AND Cleland.  I will be for a long time to come.

His energy proposals are good.

Not enough to make up for his lifelong heavy contributions to Republican campaigns, however. It's at least good that he finally saw the light that those were helping worsen the problem, not solve it.

Precisely.  Regardless of the merit of his plans the man himself is merely embarking on a self-righteous publicity stunt.

I'm really suspicious of big-pocketed private figures trying to take solving the nation's problems into their own hands.  Some of their actions may have some good impact but they set awful precedents.  People have lost enough trust in governmental institutions as it is.  We need statesmen who will unify the country, not factionalist business leaders who would carve off a dominion of power for their own.

My gut tells me he's an old man trying to save his "image" at the last minute.  My brain isn't so sure, but suspects that might be the case.

He stands to benefit greatly from his plan financially. No surprise there.

Plus, importing natural gas from Iran to replace our oil imports doesn't do much for national security.
