I know nothing about Thompson, but I don't understand why she isn't doing better in this race. After the Democrats gained 3 seats in Indiana last time, I thought the state was becoming more hospitable to them. Obama's near-win there just re-inforced that. Whats so great about Daniels? Isn't the economy doing bad there just like in OH and MI?

You're right about Indiana.  You're just asking the wrong questions.  It's not that Daniels is so great, but that Long-Thompson is the repeat reject who won't go away.  That she barely won a gimme primary speaks volumes.

This poll should be sent to Obama HQ, ASAP. If Daniels wins reelection, he will appoint Evan Bayh's successor.

Please, Obama, don't fritter away a Senate seat so you can pick a vacuous politician who has relied on his last name for everything he's ever wanted.

So she's like Tony Knowles or Neil Kinnock. That explains part of it.

HRC is also obsessed with her. If (by some miracle) she wins, HRC should have to switch to a D-IN avatar and put a JLT picture in his sig.

On the contrary, Knowles really was the best Alaska Dems had, and he won statewide several times.  Long-Thompson is just a has-been long-ago two-term Congresswoman.

And that's cute that I'm obsessed with her.  I've only ever discussed her in the context of the weird obsession with her here.  And thrilled Daniels has such a golden opportunity to hold on.

He really needs a new acronym. I read that as Hillary Rodham Clinton and was very confused.

Long-Johnson may be able to pull it off if Daniels fumbles.  If not, expect yet another mediocre governor to be reelected ... shades of Granholm '06.
