Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry, along with wife Kim, and State Treasurer Scott Meachem were in Istanbul, Turkey at the time of the explosions, but were not affected by the blasts.

They were in Turkey as part of a cultural, business, and educational exchange program paid for by the Institute of Interfaith Dialog.

They are scheduled to tour cultural and government sites in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antaylya and Capodoccia.
