Which state GOP/Dem is the most dysfunctional and/or does the worst job?  There are some state parties were you look at them and wonder "Why the hell can't they get their people in office?"  I'll hold off my opinion

The Massachusetts GOP is pretty amazing, even considering.

Does Washington, D.C. even have a GOP?

I would imagine, especially considering DC's rule about requiring minority party representation on the City Council.  David Catania was originally elected as a Republican; Carol Schwartz is currently the lone Republican voice on the council.

(Schwartz, one may recall, was the GOP nominee who held Marion Barry to a "mere" 56% in 1994.)

I'm suggesting the Arkansas GOP, comparing how well a state party does to how well they should do.

Nope, its really money problem rather than an organizational problem.  At least the NJ GOP runs close in a Democratic state.  To be the worst, you really have to run completely opposite of what you should.  Therefore, I nominate the Montana Republican Party.

The Nevada Democratic Party can't seem to defeat some of the most clownish Republicans in the country in a nearly 50-50 state.  Governor Gibbons, anyone?

The Indiana GOP underperforms, and of course, the Illinois GOP is a national joke.

I suppose the TX Dem Party should be on that list.

Trust me, it's an organizational problem too.

Oh, right.  Illinois GOP.  That's a real good one.

Arkansas GOP for consistently pulling defeat out of the jaws of victory, Illinois GOP for sheer stupidity.

In the past four years I'd say the Minnesota GOP is up there... they have been slaughtered since 2004... and the places where they were doing well and looking hopeful in are quickly drying up for them.

Well, they still have a Governor, so you can't put them at that stage yet.

Massachusetts GOP fairly easily - can't even contest heavily GOP districts, and is only running 28 candidates for 200 seats in the legislature.

West Virginia and Arkansas GOPs for worst performing vis-e-vis the state. Florida Democrats are also high in this category.

Eh, if they had the money it might be a different story.  Although local retardation like voting in Bob Yudin to chair the BCRO helps the organizational argument.

Washington Republicans: The republicans went from a 49-49 ties in the state house and 1 seat away from the majority to a 32-17 dem advantage in the senate and a 63-35 dem advantage in the house. Both senators are dems and the governors have all been dems since 1985. The republicans here have managed to almost out-do the national republicans when it comes to sex-scandals.

California Democrats: Should be doing better

WV Republicans: No explanation needed

NH Republicans: Only recently though

Schwartz is a moderate Republican though, IIRC.

But Keyes for President was (and is) a nameless longshot. Keyes for Senate was jobbed by a major party into a position where it could, under the best of circumstances, win.

Its going to take some time, if ever, for that state party to rebound.

NH Republicans: Only recently though

A one-time blip caused by a hugely popular governor on top of the ticket, a bad national year for the GOP, and a straight-ticket lever.  They're in a terrific position for a strong rebound this year, and look to be an early favorite to take back a congressional seat.

Getting rid of the straight-ticket lever is a massive short-term boon to the party, and McCain-Obama is on top of the ticket, not Lynch-Nobody.
