I look for Lieberman to give a barn burner of a speech.

Goldmine material.  I actually remember when Lieberman spoke at our convention eight years ago.  The man is human chlorofoam.  "The Republicans seem to believe in making the donkey fatter by feeding more oats to the horse."  (awkward silence, followed by murmurs and embarrassed polite golf-clapping)

Hahaha. That just made my night. I can picture the whole thing in my head.

Joseph Lieberman is a good Senator, and to kick him out of the Caucus simply because of this is childish.  Democrats need to remember that, without him, they wouldn't have their Chairmanships; Harry Reid is the one who needs to get kicked out of the Caucus.

Childish? He ditched his party.

His Party kicked him out in favor of a famous name.

That makes absolutely no sense. Lieberman was a former Vice Presidential nominee who had been a Senator from the state for 17 years. In order to be "kicked out in favor of a famous name" you need to be obscure.

Joe Lieberman also needs to keep in mind that without the Democrats he wouldn't have his Chairmanship.

The Democratic Party is a big tent, and there are a wide variety of people in it.  However, if there has to be some sort of litmus test to being a Democratic member of Congress, I believe that "endorsing the Republican presidential nominee and speaking at their convention" is a fine choice.  You cannot sabotage your party's presidential nominee and expect to be a member of that party anymore.  Lieberman's actions fully justify booting him out.

I agree. Lieberman is not just any 'Democrat', he was the party's vice-presidential nominee in 2000 and for him to endorse Sen. John "90% Bush" McCain grieves me immensely Sad

My favorite Joementum quote is from the night of the 2004 New Hampshire primary... "Thanks to you, we are in a three-way tie for third place!"  (I always remember this quote followed by Jon Stewart dryly explaining... "Yep, dead last.")

Yeah, that was pretty funny. The best was when he said, "One of the other candidates [Wes Clark] has Madonna. I've got Haddassah!" His charisma is incredible.  Smiley

He could have joined the GOP, and he'd still be Chairman.

Well, if he wants to play this sort of politics, we can play this sort of politics back. If he speaks, he will be kicked out of the caucus. I mean, you are either a democrat or republican. You can't be both.

You don't 'get' party unity. After all we need Lieberman and Reid.

When the GOP retakes the Senate (eventually) everyone on here will complain about how they should have never gotten rid of Lieberman, etc. (if he's still around).

what a chickensh**t move!

if they want to do it, they should do it right now.

Or he should just stand up one day, give 'em the finger and move to the other side of the aisle.  That's some C-SPAN daytime drama for ya!

If our majority status relies on that failure of a human being taunting us with his support of Joke McCain, then I'd rather kick him out and suffer the consequences.

Leiberman's anti-Democrat actions have been rather extreme, and it seems wholly unreasonable to expect us to happily continue to accept him.  Not unlike the wife accepting the wife-beater back time and again.

In 2006, I endorsed Lieberman over Ned Lamont because Lamont was a 'one-trick donkey', for whom it was all about Iraq

Low and behold, now we have Lieberman endorsing McCain - and it's all about Iraq; which makes him no better than Lamont

That was another one of my problems with Lamont: he only cared about 1 issue; Lamont had not run on Iraq as his only issue, Lieberman would have crushed him.

But Lieberman endorsed McCain and will now speak at the opposing party's convention for that same reason. He's as bad, if not worse.
