Yeah... I'm just a tad skeptical of these numbers. Hasn't SUSA always had MN much closer than other pollsters?

I don't believe McCain is tied in Minn any more than I believe he's trailing by 11 in Ohio.

BS both ways.

MN is not this close, and the VPs aren't legit either.

The age crosstabs on this poll are just...bizarre.

18-34: McCain 48%, Obama 48%
35-49: McCain 52%, Obama 41%
50-64: McCain 40%, Obama 52%
65+: McCain 38%, Obama 49%.

My first thought was that they'd switched the candidates around, but the numbers as given are consistent with all the VP matchups (In the Bloomberg/Schweizer matchup where McCain leads 46-40, McCain improves in all of the age groups, while still doing worse among 65+ than 18-34).

Wow. This puts Coleman's 12 point lead in perspective.

Fiorina, GIVE ME A BREAK

The internals of this poll are a bit screwy, and I seriously doubt that McCain plays very well in Minnesota.  I predict Obama carries the state by 6 points in the general.

This might make me look silly, but who is Fiorina?  And why would McCain pick him/her?

Carly Fiorina...ex-HP CEO, I believe.

She's a female Republican who's an expert in business, which is why there's some talk about her.    Why they bothered polling her as an option is beyond me (even if she hadn't been fired from HP, she still wouldn't be on my top 30 list).

No, that's Fiona.  Good job on noticing that, though. Tongue

Not really.

First, one word: Outlier. SUSA also seems to be a bit pro-Republican here (also compare their polling in Massachusetts to Rasmussen.)

Second, two words: Summer poll.

And except for the youngest demographic being tied the age breakdown looks right to me.
