Haven't taken the Swedish "högskoleprov" yet, it isn't done until end of 3rd year normally, and I'm only in 2nd. But when I do I can post it. Smiley

Never failed to get an MV, the top grade on any of the graded national exams I've had so far though. (English, Swedish and math for 9th grade, English A and B, and math A and B for 2nd level of education)

None of it all will make any sense to any of you though... Wink

*BUMP*

Has it been a year already? Got my AS-level results today, here's the breakdown:

Exam Board AQA:

Economics 297/300 A:
Micro: 105/105
Macro: 102/105
Housing Market: 90/90

General Studies 587/600 A:
Culture, Morality, Arts & Humanities 1: 100/100
Science, Maths and Technology 1: 90/100
Society, Politics and the Economy 1: 100/100
Culture, Morality, Arts & Humanities 2 (with French): 90/90
Science, Maths and Technology 2: 87/90
Society, Politics and the Economy 2: 120/120

Government & Politics 300/300 A:
Electoral Systems and Voting Behaviour: 100/100
Parties and Pressure Groups: 100/100
Features of a Representative Democracy: 100/100

History 282/300 A:
History Course Essays: 72/90
Religious Change & Its Consequences in 16th Century Europe: 105/105
Britain, 1895-1918: 105/105

Exam Board OCR:

Critical Thinking 219/300 B - I just sat the exam, in hindsight I should have actually read through the syllabus at least - maybe would have got an A then.

Mathematics 349/400 A
Introduction to Advanced Mathematics 95/100
Concepts for Advanced Mathematics 85/100
Mechanics 1 74/100 (self-taught)
Statistics 1 95/100

Top in the year in Politics, Economics and Critical Thinking (only four people took this though) - possibly top in History as well but I am not sure what others got yet.

JFK, you're scaring me, kthx.

Your scores remind me of this one girl in my grade 12 year who basically walked away with literally half of the awards at the end of the year awards ceremony. Tongue

wow, congrats JFK. My year 12 political studies course sound eerily similar to your "Government and Politics" course. Our topics are The Constitution, Parliament and the Executive, Voting and Elections, Political Parties and Pressure Groups, Australian Foreign Policy and Responsible and Representative Government.

Our exams start on the 27th of October, with English. 'Cos I dropped maths, my next exam is on the 7th (Politics); then the 9th (English Language); then the 11th (International Studies) and then the 12th (Legal Studies). It's a reasonable spread, but I am a little buit nervous. I'm getting straight As and A+'s in my SACs (important tests, but not external examinations-they do still count towards my final score though), but i'm not sure how i'll do come the actual exams....

And we wonder why they complain about grade inflation every year? Wink

Seriously though, I had a set of similarly sickening results (in maths mostly), so well done.

My take on it all after a pretty rigourous run through the education system both as a student and helping out in classes and aspiring teacher is that the problem is not the curriculums or the syllabuses themselves - they haven't gotten any easier in the last 30 years (though certainly emphasis on different areas obviously moves with the times). The problem seems to come in the exams themselves - the papers aren't actually that much harder [I have actually done a GCSE Higher paper from last year and an O-level paper, both in maths; Provided that you have the knowledge to do the questions, they are of similar difficulty].

The problem is that the marking these days is much more lenient according to the accounts of people who have marked both; This combined with the UMS scoring system means that its much easier to do what James above has done and score a full 100 (I did it too)
