Well, I got my GCSE results today (for those of you who don't know, they are nation exams sat at age 16 in around ten subjects)

The GCSE's are done on a system of A*-G grading with candidates failing to reach a G receiving a U (Unclassified)

My results:

English Language: A
English Literature: A
Physics: A
Biology: A*
Chemistry: A*
French: A*
Maths: A*
History: A*
Latin: A*
ICT (Information and Communication Technology): A* (I got 100% in the harder paper Grin)

I also took something called Additional Mathematics graded on a scale of A-E with those failing to get even an E receiving a U (Unclassified)

Additional Mathematics: B (That's what happens when you don't revise for an examination on a sixty hour course you spend less than thirty hours studying Wink)

You only got a B in Additional Mathematics and only got an A in three of the subjects!?  I am ashamed of you!

Seriously though, that's, ah, pretty good. Wink  I always find it interesting to hear how other countries' education systems work.

Just for interest's sake, what percentage spreads do those grades represent?

Well done.
I did my GCSE's back in 1992.
Back then they didn't have A*'s.
I got 4* A's and 4* B's.

Nope, you need 3* A's at A Level to get into Oxbridge or Imperial.

I know in ICT it is the top 2.77% of those who studied it, I am not sure where in relation with the others but I believe in latin around 30% of applicants achieve A*s. Maths I think it is 6 or so percent and the rest I cannot say.

If you want to know, search google for

Edexcel (French, History, Maths)
AQA (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, English Literature)
OCR (Latin, ICT)

Those are my exam boards Wink

Indeed I shall be Gents Smiley. Do you guys get a shop called Reiss there? That is where I shall be going, their suits are around $650 US I believe, they are £375 sterling.

Thank you for the kind words fellows Smiley.

No, I mean, for example, is an A* 100%-90% correct, or 100%-95% correct, or what?

We aren't told the boundaries, it was originally done on a bell curve but I think that may have been scrapped.

Congratulations!

I wish I'd taken my GCSEs seriously but I was too busy trying to score with girls (and failing) and daydreaming about being a rock star. I mostly got Ds and Cs, the only subjects I was any good at were English Literature and English Language. So well done, and best of luck for your A-Levels. Smiley

*Bump*

I had my English Language and English Literature papers re-marked and that took both grades up from As to A*s.

I haven't taken my SAT's yet. But I took the PSAT's last year and got a 1275 or something. I did ok if you take into account that I was a sophmore.

Is speaking in a british accent on those tests? Cause if it is, I'd ace it.

Oi!
