Let me just stick with my lifetime -- 1965 onward. And I was a Republican until 1989 so I actually did vote for a couple of these guys.

1980: Reagan then; a moderate or liberal R if...
1984: same as 1980
1988: Bob Dole
1992: George H.W. Bush
1996: Write in for Mark Hatfield
2000: John McCain
2004: Write in for Mark Hatfield as a war protest
2008: Write-in for Chuck Hagel as a war protest
