"Held in Lucifer's mouth" is an allusion to Dante's Inferno and the whole "layers of Hell" thing.

Nice list Realpolitik, with the exception of LBJ at no. 2.  You're a little off there.

Remeber, my father ended the LBJ presidency Smiley

I put LBJ at 2 because of the Civil Rights legislation and the War on Poverty.

Besides it wasn't really his fault, he didn't know how foriegn policy and dipolomacy worked and relied far too much on advisors.
