I'm sure either Obama or the eventual Democrat will win a majority of the 538 votes that count.

What makes you so certain? I would like to hear your argument here.

ah.  Not sure whether that was Freudian, alcohol-induced, or simply the result of fatigue or impatience.  Anyway, you know what I meant.  The Republican or the Democrat.

I do like keeping up with things like popular vote though, if only for academic purposes.  Think anyone will break fifty?

That's true, but no one knows that. The guy has always gotten a completely free pass from the media, and I expect that to continue.

Yes, in fact I've commented on that. The media for some inexplicable reason continues to frame him as a 'maverick,' even though the very few big issues he had with the GOP like the tax cuts he's backed down on.

For the Obama campaign to win, they really need to nighlight McCain's many similarities to Bush. They will need to be aggressive. If the race were tomorrow, McCain would win.
Oh, I have absolute confidence that they will. And as my sig indicates, it's not that hard to beat him just by repeating the unbelievable amount of gaffes he's already made on issues like foreign policy. I was seriously considering supporting him after reviewing the actual records of all the candidates, then I heard him open his mouth and that was it.

Look, because of the way this election cycle sets up positively for Democrats, both Democrats have slight advantage against McCain, who is a strong, but not great candidate and definitely the best candidate the Republicans could have put up this year.  I'd put the number at 60-40 of winning in both Clinton and Obama's favor at this present moment.

Fundamentally though, Obama is the "riskier" candidate of the two candidates.  The number of undecideds will be greater.  The potential for greater victory or greater defeat is much higher.  That's just the type of candidate he is.

I was giving it some thought, and I'm pretty sure John McCain is the most popular national Republican politician in the country. I was always worried about him being the nominee, and was really hoping the GOP would go for Romney or Guiliani (who would've been easy to beat).
