Be honest, if Hillary gets knocked out of serious contention on March 4, will you find it in your heart to have sympathy for her?

Come on, even a little bit?

Please discuss.

She deserved it. It's not like she hasn't been in the White House before.

No, not with the disgusting way her campaign has been run.

A little.  I think she genuinely believes in her cause and her abilities.  There's some good in that, even if I think it's also a little dangerous.

Yes, a little bit. But I give a little sympathy to pretty much any candidate who was forced to drop out including Republicans. (This excludes Tancredo and Hunter and Brownback)

I'll only cry if she does first.

No. Knowing how miserable it'd make her would actually make me enjoy it MORE.

That's really doesn't make you seem like much of a Christian, or a human being.

I'm not perfect. I had sympathy for Edwards though, and even Romney. The reason I feel this way toward Hillary is because of just how disgusting and low her campaign has been. It'll be excellent to finally see it thrown to the dust bin of history.

You seem downright proud of being, as you put it, "not perfect"

Should I have felt sympathy for Nicolae Ceausescu after his ouster and execution?

Should I have felt sympathy for Thaksin Shinawatra after his overthrow?

Should I have felt sympathy for Slobodan Milosevic when he was removed in a popular uprising, or that tin pot despot of Kyrgyzstan in a similar situation? How about Saddam Hussein at his execution?

I had sympathy for Romney, Richardson, Biden, and Dodd when they dropped out. I was almost tearing up when Edwards dropped out, though obviously I never had the emotional investment in Clinton's campaign that I did in Edwards's.

I think what's interesting about Clinton is that she's been a much better candidate than many, including myself imagined. At times, she's been genuinely personable and charismatic, and even funny. There are times when I genuinely feel that she'd be a good president. The problem, of course, was that her campaign was much, much worse than what any one thought. It's been a disaster, to the point that all the charm and humility she was able to exude was masked by negative, at times revolting, antics of her campaign.

I find it surprising that you find these folks analogous to Senator Clinton.

How is Thaksin not? Milosevic is also somewhat comparable, he was sort of elected. (Not exactly the most fair of elections but he had as much claim to legitimacy as the Iraqi government does.)

A massively corrupt dictator-in-effect was your most comparable list item?

Thaksin is quite comparable to Berlusconi, who I didn't feel any sympathy for after he lost the election and was replaced by the center-left coalition government.

I, for one, find it surprising that BRTD hasn't reached Hitler in his comparisons yet.

I'll feel some sympathy for her, since she would be a good president if the country didn't hate her so much. Its also a little sad to see the first possible female president go down in flames.

BRTD, how could you possibly feel sympathy for Romney? He was a terrible candidate. I'd vote for Huckabee in a heartbeat over him, and the latter would put me in a re-education camp.

We all know it's only a matter of time.

I would feel some sympathy for Clinton, even though I genuinely dislike the way her campaign has operated. It's obvious her entire political career pointed towards this goal, and it's a tad sad to see it crashing then watching her response in real time. But ultimately I would have felt worse had she succeeded.

Because he's a better man than the one who will be the GOP nominee. And so is Huckabee for that matter.

More honest and less politically sleazy.
