It's that damn O graphic!

It is so damn annoying.  Who designed it?

Does anyone else hate it, or is it just me?

I think it's awesome. I bought a shirt with just that giant O at the rally last night.

I've never liked it.  It simultaneously reminds me of stale donuts and farming.

A donut!  Yes, exactly.  Now farming I don't understand, but the stripes sort of look like a field.

That's what they're actually supposed to represent.  I wish I hadn't read that.  Now, whenever I see the logo, it reminds me of driving through northern California.  I hate northern California.  I don't care what Glenn Beck says.  If farms are the Heartland, then the Heartland is boring, dry, and smells like cattle.  And that's what the logo reminds me of now.  Stale donuts and the smell of cow crap.

I actually like the logo a lot. It has very good symbolic overtones. But that particular iteration of the icon is less than ideal; it's too flat and simplified. The "crystal" versions meant for online use are much snazzier.

I HATE it (but then I dislike the candidate). It looks like a New Age piece of rubbish and the muted colours and the swirly design gives me a headache. Whenever I see the Obama posters my first instinct is to think .... hang on, hasn't Kucinich dropped out yet?

I know it kind of a flag, but with the horison I always think rainbow, and that Obama should be talking about gay rights more.

Oprah. You know that black woman that's only famous because she's black?

It was designed to trick people to believe that they were voting for Oprah instead of this guy called Barack Obama.

I thought the red stripes were supposed to be the flag and the white circle was the sun of hope?

I always saw it as a sun rising over a hill (probably a field, because of the stripes, but you could interpret it as a flag-striped hill).

It's great because it's a symbol. Hillary doesn't have a symbol. McCain doesn't. Symbols are very hard to create.  That O will be like the Nike swoosh or the McD golden arches.  Companies would pay millions for that kind of success.

Stylistically, the O is great because it conveys a theme of the campaign (a new day is dawning) and the stripes allude to a midwest Kansas farm field (this black guy doesn't come from the 'hood with that "hippity-hop" music and those crackheads), which reaches out to the Middle America voters Obama thinks he can compete for in November.  The reds and blues are softer shades, too, making people feel like he's got an inner calmness.  The logo also looks very fresh and current, like from a new tech company that has a highly anticipated IPO.

But in a static graphic like this, you can't tell whether that sun is rising or setting.

The rise of the hill suggests that the sun is rising, whereas a valley would create the visual suggestion that the sun was setting. It's clever artistry.

Also there's sort of a flare effect at the base of the sun in the logo, which makes you think bright rising sun.

What is it?  It always reminds me of a farm type setting - which could be  good - I just don't know if that's what it's supposed to mean.

If it were rising, it would be lower on the horizon, closer to dawn, symbolizing rebirth, change,  and hope.

Is there a reason to be bitter about a giant O? Seriously....find something more important in your life than menacing letters.
