agreed. It would be weird to me if McCain lost much in the Mountain Southwest (I do think there is a bit of a regional thing for McCain)

Yeah. McCain seems to not really be liked in the reigion though he is a populist on racial and reigional issues. - and that could be it. The SW doesn't like populists.

...which must be why they love Obama? New Mexico is a state where Obama has consistently polled poorly before. And given the other SUSA polls they seem to have no idea what they're doing. They're never been that good with GE polls anyway.

Given Obama's and Bush's history with Hispanic voters I would guess New Mexico would be one of the few places where McCain could benefit from his immigration stance.

This seems to be a more Democratic-leaning poll than others, but Obama has been matching Clinton in New Mexico for a while now.  That part isn't entirely implausible.  But New Mexico won't be a 15-point state this fall.

Edit: McCain leads Obama among Evangelicals by 9?  heh.
