I've given this a lot of thought over the past few weeks.

Robert Kennedy is one of my personal political heroes. He wanted to bring new generations into politics, and unite Americans of all races and classes to form a national dialogue, and made each of them feel they had a role to play. I think generations since have craved a leader with a vision like that.

My concern in the Democratic race is whether Obama could be more than the candidate of the "we know better" coaltion, people with enough money and education to be able to worry about ideals ahead of concrete workable programs. Supporting Senator Clinton does not mean that a person is not interested in those wider issues of hope or change.

Obama has now shown that he is indeed more than that. He has now started to flesh out his policy positions to become more accessible to those perhaps without as much access to the net. His message has now reached a significant portion of the democratic constituency, and more importantly, indpendents.

Therefore I am now letting it be known that I am now suporting Senator Barack Obama to be the next president of the United States.

Senator Clinton is a person I would have been proud to see as president. She is a good public servant who has been undeserving of the personal spite of many. This party has had the unenviable task deciding between two excellent candidates, the problem being, they both can't be the nominee. But out of this, I consider the Democratic Party and the world being the real winners.

All along my preference has been pro-Clinton, never anti-Obama - and the reverse is true now. This was a hard decision, but now unity must reign in this party. Senator Clinton is not Satan, she is not a monster - she is a worthy candidate - but her time, I don't believe, is now.

Senator Obama has now shown he has the support behind him to take it to the Republicans. Am I free of my concerns about what could arise in the general in reasonable questions about his experience and positions? No. But I'm not blind to those things, and I do consider them important issues to debate. But now is the time to try to purge the past eight years away, it's now time to bring about 'change we can believe in'.

Your position seems to echo that of the voters who according to the "experts" were certainly going to support Hillary, but they went to the polls and voted for Obama.   A "light" seems to have come on for many, including you.

No, it wasn't a light going off.

It was more a case that I always liked him, always thought he represented what I believe in - but wasn't sure he was ready for prime-time, and was more of an 'elite' candidate. He's proven that he has the capacity to reach most, so that's why I'm supporting him now.

Valid reasoning indeed.....good for you.
