Well, this'll swing an important demographic: the .002% of voters who are Teamster members in states with upcoming contested primaries who are undecided and depend on their union to tell them who to vote for.

Hooray for bandwagon-jumping!

Unions are like George Bush: Irrelevant, but they haven't noticed that fact yet.

I think that is true to an extent, but do the Teamsters have strong GOTV machines in any of the future states?

Agreed.....this will do little more than generate good press for Obama.  But right now that's a good thing.

Sure they're powerful, but that doesn't assure a good modern GOTV machine.

Some of Washington's most powerful unions have pretty archaic systems.

Eh, I always assumed people knew they were that strong when it comes to GOTV.

...here's one I made earlier...

Union density by state. Data a little old now. Might make a new version at some point.

What's up with Alabama?

Union endorsements don't really help Obama, because he already has just an enthusiastic volunteer/grassroots effort, so the Union GOTV support is just icing on the cake. Clinton's the one that really needed these endorsements.

Birmingham and its old industrial base being a big factor if memory serves me right.

I imagine Mobile has union influence, too.
