Hes planned for a campaign stop in Warwick, RI tomorrow during a day where he is expected to spend much of it Texas [Dallas and Corpus Christi] then this stop in Rhode Island. Do you think showing his face in Rhode Island will help him at all or is this a solid Clinton state?

Campaign stops rarely hurt, but this is still a solid Clinton state.

Hmm.  I'll be there, but I was expecting only Mrs. Obama.  I didn't know he was coming as well.

Oh indeed I read it wrong, it will only be Mrs. Obama visiting Warwick.

Ah, Warwick. I guess Warwick's most famous resident (Lincoln Chafee) will be campaigning with Mrs. Obama?

Interesting. I just remembered. Didn't Barack help oust Chafee from his seat?

I think Obama will narrowly carry Rhode Island. I realize I'm going out on a limb with that one but there you go.

That's the one state I hope he DOESN'T carry because I bet against his very overvalued odds.

Well what does the RI demographic comprise of? Is it more like Massachussetts or Connecticut? Or neither...?

As Alcon put it, it's more Massachusetts-esque than Massachusetts itself

think Worcester County but a tad blacker.  Providence has a sizeable black population, the rest of the state is lily-white.  CT is a different ballgame, with NY exurbia in the western part of the state that has nothing to do with anything you'll find in RI.

Is Hillary putting anything into RI?  Ads?  Surrogates?  Herself?  It seems to me that even if Obama only sends Michelle and maybe Kerry and Kennedy whilst Clinton sends no one Obama could actually win.

This is a really, really bad demographic state for Obama.  Really.  Not West Virginia bad, but pretty bad.

I wonder if Michelle Obama's brother being the Brown University basketball coach will help any.

I expect Obama to lose Rhode Island something around 55C-44O.

I expect this issue to rank somewhere just behind the economy, asbestos, and the War of 1812.

It's worth spending a day or 2 campaigning in Vermont and Rhode Island, since it's a fight for every delegate. However, almost all of the next 2 weeks should be spent in Ohio and Texas. Wyoming and Mississippi can wait until after March 4th, and then there's no state for another month and a half after them.

Some of us are still expecting reparations, Alcon.

I realize that but Hillary is limping pretty badly now and if she ignores this state and Obama has activity there I imagine the margin will be <5% no matter the victor.

His efforts this month ensure that he's got the delegates.  Winning Ohio or Texas can effectively knock Clinton out of the race, so he should be putting everything he has in there.  If he feels he's completely saturated the other two, he can spend time in VT & RI.

Look at a county, or better yet a town map of Obama-Clinton in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Now imagine Rhode Island where it should be between the two states. That's about what to expect.

Thats most likely why he sent his wife instead of going himself. He can campaign hard between Ohio and Texas and effectively campaign in Rhode Island [or Vermont if necessary] by sending his wife and a couple of elected officials who have agreed to campaign for him.

with that said, I dont think Michelle will sway alot of people by campaigning there so RI is going to be a safe Clinton state.
