No purple; we're a republic. Perhaps red-yellow-red?

I know it's ugly, but I really dislike the purple. Perhaps a wholly different design?

What about this?

Again I'm going for 'unused' colour combinations here. It's a little softer.

Interesting. I would like it if it wasn't so Dutch.

As similar as Paraguay is to Luxembourg Smiley Besides why not be constructive?

I don't know. Really, it's fine. I've looked at too many flags in my day. Any color scheme will ring a bell.

Black+white=horrible flag.  The first one is okay.

What he said about the black and white flag, but the first one seems vaguely swastika-ish.

We need to come up with some colors before we design a flag.

Colors should have some symbolism, and work well together on a flag.

This is probably the most 'unique' least bold, but distinctive flag I could think of. Yes and it's a bit like a reversed flag of the Yukon.

Blue is for the sky and the sea, white for peace and green for the land. It's a little European and a little 'Candian Provincial' in design.

As for colours, I would back the use of blue, white and either green or a warm yellow.

YES! That's perfect!

On the coat of arms, what do the top two things represent? I recognize the lion and the fleurs-de-lis.

For the Antillian symbol on the coat of arms, perhaps the shield should be flanked on the left by a pickaxe (mining) and on the right by a grain (farming).

Why not just opt for a hammer and sickle Cheesy

Seriously though, I would oppose that as it's the preserve of socialist one party states and African agrarian republics.

Yeah, I realized that right after posting. Tongue

What should be the Antillian symbol? And what do the castle and blue things represent?

The 'blue' things are Portuguese. It adds a balance to the arms colour wise and I thought representation should be included no matter how fleeting the Portugese presence was or is. The castle is a hereldic device; it is lifted from the arms of the Spanish Republic where it simulates the role of a crown, but without the royal political baggage. The castle/fort device would also symbolise Antilla - if we were colonised then the first, biggest and most sturdy constructions would have been forts (there would still be some dotted about)

As for symbols, well that would be a flower or animal - it depends on what our wildlife would be. I like the idea of a ram Smiley It's quite mundane and domestic but it would be widespread.

Ram would work. I still think there should be something on each side of the shield.

On that note.

Arms on a flag however look cleaner without supporters etc. National arms would be quite different and can make use of 'plumage' Smiley

On second thought, you're completely right.

What program did you use to make the flags?

Rather than starting a new thread, I'm hijacking an old but appropriate one.

For fictional broadcasting or amateur radio entities, it would good to have an "official" call sign.  There are two I see as being most likely.

VL - officially assigned to Australian broadcasters, but apparently never actually used by them on air.

V9 - currently not assigned.

The whole V series of call signs was originally allocated to the British Empire (V for Victoria) so having a V-series call sign would make sense and these are the two that are available.

I'd like V9.

We need a full coat of arms and a motto. Messr. Denoix can probably do the former, while we'll need a bunch of proposals for the latter. Latin is best, Greek good, French acceptable, English discouraged.
