Let's say that in January 2006, Licoln Chafee realizes that the Rockefeller Republicans no longer exist, and that he cannot support a party so indelibly linked with the war. Therefore, he becomes a Democrat. How does this alter the dynamics of the race?

Were Whitehouse and/or Brown in the primary race yet at that point? Because I could see Chafee losing the Democratic primary, maybe.

Not sure, but Whitehouse v. Chafee polling was being done in September 2005.

Most likely Laffey, which means that Chafee easily wins reelection.
