I've worked on campaigns in a college town in a state with same day registration, and I can say that the entire DFL strategy in such areas is to get as many college kids out as possible, which isn't that difficult with same day registration (especially since the polling place is usually on campus). No doubt Obama's strategy is similar.

Wisconsin rocks if they have same-day registration (we have there here in NH as well).

Because an open invitation to fraud is a good thing?

I don't view it as an "open invitation to fraud". I view it as a way to enfranchise as many people as possible.

Even though that's, very clearly, what it is?

The best thing to do for that is automatic (or bloodly close to automatic) registration as soon as someone turns 18.

I would agree with that idea very strongly.

Minnesota doesn't exactly have a reputation as a bastion of vote fraud...

And our voting laws are even laxer than Wisconsin's. You don't even need proof of residence to register here as long as you can bring with someone already registered in the precinct who'll claim you also live there.

We don't have any problems with it here in New Hampshire.

How do you know? And even if that isn't the case, what would that prove? Set up such a system in someone with a known problem of electoral fraud and...
