They have become liberal versions of the Bush followers.

Become? Don't be silly. DU has been like that for years - anyone who is too far out of line with the opinions of the forum heads is eventually banned. If Hillary were the nominee I guarantee you that those who would dare to speak out against her would be banned if only because she'd be bravely facing the evil McCain in great battle.

DU's rules are much stricter. For example here we are still allowed to talk about Straha, Stark, jamespol, etc. On DU that's not allowed as all discussion of banned members is strictly prohibited.

How Stalinist.

Unfortunately the Obama movement has an extremist side to it.  Kool-Aid drinkers who flip out if you even raise a question about the man's positions.  Now we see BRTD happy about people being banned from DU for supporting Hillary over Obama.  Wow.  They have become liberal versions of the Bush followers.

I hope you aren't contending that this is exclusive to Obama/Bush.  Nearly every candidate will have this sort of faction following it.

For example, look at the Clinton supporters who are trying to get Michigan and Florida to count.  That's just ridiculous.

Don't forget insinuations that Hillary can singlehandedly save us from terrorism, while Obama might not understand how to stop them.

You're right, this cuts both ways and Hillary has Kool-Aid drinkers too.  But I honestly haven't seen someone (from the left) in this forum happily trumpeting the censorship before now.

Blind faith in any politician is scary.

They didn't get banned for simply supporting Hillary, but being rather obnoxious hacks.

You're an obnoxious hack, should we get you banned?

This forum is different from DU. For starters we actually allow non-Democrats, which DU doesn't.

Uh, great comparison. So DU is more of a...hack forum, right? Why ban hacks there but not here?

You are clueless, chief.

DU is a ridiculously pro-Edwards forum. They've had threads petitioning bans for both Obama and Clinton supporters on that site cause Edwards supporters outnumber Clinton/Obama people significantly. Its almost as bad as that Hillaryis44 website or whatever it is...its ridiculous either way.

This forum is far more civil than DU, even though we do share the same amount of hackery as DU but at a lesser extent. [thats not an attack at anyone specifically here mind you...I promise Wink]

On a side note, DU had a mass purge yesterday, with dozens of Hillary hacks taken out. Many of these were people the Obamaites had been targeting for a long time trying to get banned (usually by alerting every single one of their posts), so this is a huge victory for us.

It is a defeat for free speech. Few in reality are really in favor of free speech, I have found, when it proves inconvenient - to themselves.

Nothing to do with the discussion, I just had to compliment you on that pic.  It's amazing.

So, the left is no different than the right in its suppression of free speech on internet sites.  What a surprise.

If you knew anything about the history of right-wing political discussion sites, I could just insert names into what you just typed and it would be an accurate retelling.

I know all about DU. I just don't understand why the fact that they're a partisan forum means eliminating minority opinions (within their party) is applauded.

Bottom line - BRTD loves free speech unless it goes against what he believes. The kid is a hypocritical, never ending joke.

Indeend, unlike that Hillaryis44 site the DU site isnt even a forum for a particular candidate. Showing that its overwhelmingly pro-one candidate and not partisan at all like it says it is was the first indication that the forum was garbage. Im not really surprised it happened but I think its stupid that it did happen.
