Is Gore failing to endorse in the hope for a brokered convention?

Cheers

No.

In 2004, he endorsed Howard Dean, far too early as it turned out.

I think Gore has determined his opportunity to be president has passed.

Considering the invective Gore continues to receive from the right, I think he may be trying to position himself as "post-political" for the sake of his cause of climate change.  Staying out of the fray and making a point to try not to be just another Democrat railing about global warming may help the issue be seen as above politics and not a left-vs-right thing, at least to those in the middle of the spectrum.

BUMP

Anyone think after the Potomac Primary Gore may weigh in?  I do.

His endorsement might be pretty influential to, say, convince the superdelegates to vote with the majority of pledged delegates (presumably for Obama).

But there are a large number of actual states left, so I can't see an endorsement coming before the March 4th primaries.

Figures. Im kinda worried about John Edward's endorsement [advisors to his campain says theres more than a 50% chance he will back someone]...his meeting with Obama was canceled today and moved to a different date "to avoid mass media coverage to meet in secret".

I'm sort of curious if part of Gore's decision was based on the failure of Howard Dean last time around. I don't think Gore believes he cost Dean the election (which would be silly to believe), but maybe he doesn't want to end up in that position again.

In reality, he's probably not doing it so he doesn't get dragged into this and end up fighting fellow Democratic leaders.
