I believe he created the universe (scientifically accepted 'Big Bang' concept etc) but has not had an active force in it.

Well, science has pretty much blown Christian creationism in the Genesis sense out of the water. Now, if there is a creator god or gods then I would say they probably don't take an active role in the universe.
