Okay, I decided to go figure it out myself.  This is state's GDP per capita compared with the country with the closest national GDP per capita:

A lot of states were really, really close together, resulting in many states having the same country allocated to them.

Also, interestingly enough, the United States falls in between 12th (Minnesota) and 13th (California), meaning that the vast majority of states (38, to be exact) has a GDP less than the GDP of the whole country.

Now that is much better.   Smiley

I don't know, I don't consider it a compliment to have my state's economy compared with Italy, the closest that western Europe comes to an economic basket case.

Yeah but I think you know why I'm happy.  Wink

Well that was never in doubt.

I thought Belgium matched well with Massachusetts, Canada with Texas, and California with France sort of. I'm basing this off of very broad things like the population densities of Bel. and Mass. and the oil industry in TX and Can.

Someone else has made a newer version of the map, perhaps due to the relatively strong economic gains in many countries.

I would rather see these numbers after being adjusted by subtracting remittance to the countries from the U.S.

Illinois is Mexico.  Mexico relies heavily on money sent from workers in the U.S.  Remove that money and then see what state Mexico resembles.

I'd move to Oklahoma, but only if they swap their women with the women of the Phillipines.  Tongue

Hmm.  Lets see.  1) Old man.  2) ex-military. 3) likes Filipinas.  Are you a sex tourist, MODU?

I've had some enjoyable times in Angeles City.  Nowhere near as good as Thailand, but still fun.

For further information:

Austria`s GDP grew by 6% last year (nominal) to 273 Bio. € (= 380 Bio. $). Real growth was about 3.5%. Inflation was at 2.5%.

Austria had a population of 8.32 Mio. last year. That brings per-capita GDP to 32.800€ or 45.700$.

That means we are now level with the US when it comes to GDP per capita.

US GDP was 13.750 Bio. $ in 2006 (+4.5% nominal), the population was 301.62 Mio. Per-capita GDP was 45.700 as well.
