2000 GOP - Minnesota Caucus Result

I was looking at the results from the 2000 Republican Minnesota Caucus. Though Governor Bush won with 63% of the vote, Alan Keyes finished second with 20% and Senator McCain with 17%. How the hell did this occur. Afterall this is Alan Keyes we are talking about! I would have thought that Senator McCain would have done better in Minnesota than both Bush and Keyes.

In 2004, Kucinich got 17% of the vote.

Minnesota is strange.

We have a lot of extremists, on both sides. They make the base of each party and are the ones likely to come out to caucuses.

Lilly-white Minnesotans, even the conservative ones, probably thought they were being "nice" by voting for the black guy.   Like Canadians, Minnesotans are so adorable.
