In 1968, after 8 years of Democratic administrations

Republicans nominate Michigan Governor George Romney, renowned for his executive abilities, for President.

Democrats nominate Minnesota Senator Eugene McCarthy, leading anti-war advocate, for President.

How does this election turn out?

I'love a McCarthy presidency, but it wouldn't even be close:

That and WV and MD go to Romney.

Question: Who would be their VPs? My guess was for Romney, John Tower of Texas and for McCarthy, either George McGovern of South Dakota or maybe Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts.

I have noticed in a majority of your 1968 maps, you tend to put Maine in the Democratic collumn. Maine, as you know only voted for Humphrey in 1968 because of Ed Muskie being his running mate. Had Hubert selected somebody else it would have went to the Republicans.

That actually was a mistake on this map.

romney would have won easily.

if wallace was in the race, he could have gotten 25%+  he would have been the only 'pro war' candidate.
