On the left is the 1928 Presidential map, on the right is the 1928 Senatorial map



And here's a swing between these maps



Smith was a Wet Catholic, and Hay (the Democratic) candidate was a Dry Protestant.

Smith lost 56/44 in Missouri, Hay lost 52/48.

So this is an interesting show of the anti-Smith swing in 1928.

Pres: 55.57/44.15
Sen: 51.91/47.88
Gov: 51.63/48.17
Lt Gov: 52.47/47.36
SoS: 53.11/46.72
Aud: 52.70/47.12
Treas: 52.81/47.01
Att. Gen: 52.86/47.12

The overall Republican range: 51.63 to 55.57
The Republican range without Hoover: 51.63 to 53.11
The Republican range for the five lower-ballot races: 52.47 to 53.11
